In spring 2025, a nest appeared in the Osada LoveLaski woodshed, tucked into a corner between logs we usually used for the fireplaces.
It was a reminder that the forest reaches beyond the terrace, and wildlife chooses its own places.
First, there was a nest
We noticed a nest woven from twigs and soft material, with bluish eggs inside. At first, we did not know who had moved in.
For a short time, we placed a small camera at a safe distance. A jay appeared at the end of the recording, checked the nest and rearranged a few twigs. We had a new neighbour.
The best decision was to leave it alone
We left the nest where it was and limited use of that part of the woodshed. We put up a notice and asked arriving Guests to keep their distance.
We wanted to share the story while giving the bird peace. Watching wildlife doesn't require getting close, touching a nest or chasing a perfect photo.
The forest had its own daily routine
At the same time, bird boxes around the grounds became busy. Different calls filled the morning and changed through the day.
You don't have to identify every species. Simply listen for a few minutes and notice how much happens without us.
What stayed with us
This was one season's event. The post records spring 2025 and does not describe the current situation in the woodshed.
The lesson remains: we are guests of the forest too. When nature settles close by, distance and patience are a good first response.

At the time, we left her undisturbed. Once we found the nest, we placed a notice by the woodshed and sent Guests a text before arrival asking them to respect the bird's quiet space.
The forest was full of birdsong from morning to evening. Four nesting boxes put up the previous autumn were busy too. The whole woodland seemed alive with sound.
It was an unplanned moment, and all the more special for it.
