Using the fireplace - how to?

Here's a short and friendly guide on how to light and use the wood-burning stove in our cottages, so you can enjoy warmth and coziness without any hassle.

Step 1 – preparation
  • Ensure the interior of the stove is clean and free from ash or wood remnants from previous use.

  • Check if the air vent flap at the bottom of the stove (for airflow regulation) is open to allow proper oxygen flow.

Important Safety Rules:

Caution with Hot Surfaces: The entire wood-burning stove, including the pipe, becomes very hot during use. Placing any objects on it is strictly prohibited.

For safety, please use the protective gloves provided in the cabinet under the TV.

Step 2 – arranging the wood
  • Place a few larger pieces of wood at the bottom of the stove.

  • Next, add several smaller pieces of dry wood, which will ensure longer and more stable burning. Avoid overloading the stove—fill the firebox to about half its height.

2
Step 3 – lighting the fire
  • In the cabinet under the TV, you will find matches or a lighter. Use them to ignite the firelighter. Do not use paper, plastic materials, foil, or similar items.

  • Once the smaller pieces start burning, gradually add larger pieces of wood.

3
Step 4 – flame control
  • After the wood has caught fire, reduce the airflow by adjusting the air vent flap to control the flame intensity.

  • Remember, too much airflow can cause the wood to burn too quickly.

Important tips
  • Avoid using too much wood. A few well-arranged pieces are enough to achieve optimal temperature and prevent overheating. Do not add new wood until the previous logs have fully burned down.

  • Never leave the burning stove unattended, especially if there are pets in the cottage. Ensure no sparks or embers escape the stove.

  • If there is excessive ash in the stove, please contact us for assistance with cleaning.

  • Fire extinguishers are available in each cottage and around the premises for your safety.
