The art of doing nothing: why rest needn't be productive

Rest doesn't need a result. Give yourself permission to spend a weekend simply being, without turning it into another project.

Even free time can start to feel like a task: walks measured in steps, books for self-improvement, sleep to optimise and weekends to photograph.

It's little wonder we sometimes need a rest after our time off.

Doing nothing can be a choice

You don't have to lie still all day or ban your phone. Just allow yourself a moment that leads to no particular result.

Watch the fire, drink coffee without a podcast or walk without counting kilometres. Ordinary things, enjoyed for themselves.

Why it may feel strange at first

When everyday life suddenly slows down, you may look for the next task: email, a route or somewhere to visit. Quiet can feel unfamiliar at first.

Notice the urge without acting on it straight away. After a while, an open day can begin to feel like space rather than emptiness.

A simple weekend experiment

For the first hour after arrival, make no plans. Unpack the essentials, make a drink and sit by the window.

The next day, choose one fixed point: a walk, a booked sauna session or dinner by the fire. Let the rest take its own shape.

At night, leave the day unscored. You don't need a completed checklist to have enjoyed it.

No compulsory activities at Osada LoveLaski

Four year-round cabins, forest, fireplaces and a shared spa. The hot tub needs no booking; the sauna does. You can use the campfire area or brick barbecue when conditions allow, or stay inside.

Osada LoveLaski welcomes guests aged 15 and over, with quiet shared by everyone on the grounds.

Doing nothing together

You can read beside each other, look through the window or follow the same path without needing to fill every silence.

There can be real closeness in simply sharing the space, without organising the other person's time.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to switch my phone off completely?

No. An offline break is a separate choice. What matters here is choosing your day yourself.

What if I start to feel bored?

Let the feeling stay for a moment. Or take a short walk, light the fireplace or prepare food. You don't have to reach immediately for stronger stimulation.

Are two nights enough?

Two days won't solve everything, but they give you time to feel a different pace without leaving as soon as you've unpacked.
